This beautiful young man came to us from Charlie’s Angels Rescue. Althought it was originally intended to be a foster situation, we soon realized that Jake has some special needs that might make him a less than ideal candidate for adoption.
Charlie’s Angels knew that he’d had a rough past, with some abuse and neglect involved. But as we watched him make the effort to housetrain and move normally like the other dogs, we understood that some injury has happened to Jake at some point in his life that left a neurological impact. We are blessed to have the kind of environment where a dog like Jake can live without feeling pressure to housetrain, where he can have access to both a soft bed and potty area within a few steps of each other. The longer he is here, the stronger he seems to become in his hindquarters. Experience tells us he will never fully recover. But he is not in pain and couldn’t care less that he can’t hold his wee as long as the other dogs. Jake is one truly happy boy these days, running and playing with his friends in the most carefree world any of us can imagine.
