Estrella is our very own unicorn. No, we can’t see the unicorn horn, but we believe it’s there. She is magical. One of the sweetest, gentlest horses we have ever known, she lets us know daily how much she appreciates having her own pasture paradise away from the suffering and hunger of her previous life.
Her early years must have been miserable. We know from the people who rescued her that she was in a condition of near-starvation when they found her. They nourished and loved her back to health, but the scars on her body remain. Saddle sores along her spine, tender and swollen legs from misuse, and hooves that were never tended. We’re doing our best to make her comfortable now and hope to show her how fun bareback hacks along the trail can be. But her days of work and pain are over. Enjoy pura vida, our lovely girl! You have earned it.
