Holly came to us after the unfotunate circumstance of being struck by a motorcycle in the nearby town of Upala. She was injured but salvageable, so the kind police officers who got her out of the road also took her to a vet for treatment and prognosis. Then they brought her to us.<\/p>\n\n\n

At first Holly could barely stand on her own. But as the bones and ligaments in her pelvis healed, she began to not only stand, but to walk, and then to trot. She became able to climb steps and play with the other dogs. We knew her future was promising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But being a stray, and initially being too frail to sterilize, Holly was keeping a secret. Several weeks after her arrival, she gave premature birth to a litter of thirteen puppies. None of them survived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a difficult time for Holly and a difficult time for us. We grieved together. But we also recovered together from the trauma of so much loss. As Holly regained strength from her ordeal, we all bonded with her more closely than before. Even the other dogs seemed to accept her more readily. Soon she was strong enough for sterilization, and these days she lives a carefree life with no worries of ever having to endure such hardship again.<\/p>\n\n\n
