Get Involved

Hands down, the best way to get involved is by contributing time and money to the effort we’re making here in Costa Rica. We need funding. If we are to pay for the sterilization of animals in our community, we need resources to do it. Manor Miravalles Animal Sanctuary does not receive grant funding nor is it supported by wealthy private foundations. We’re just a bunch of people giving everything we’ve got to help the animals we see in need, and hoping others will join the cause alongside us.

Long-term goals of MMAS include operating an on-site campground and cabina rental service that can house volunteers and potentially earn money from guests who want to sleep close to nature. One hundred percent of the proceeds from such a venture would go to the nonprofit. We will use that money to spay and neuter as many locally-owned animals as possible, identify and manage dogs that are true strays by sterilizing, vaccinating, and feeding their packs, and launching promotional campaigns in our area to educate and motivate the community. We will also use funds to feed and provide veterinary care for the dogs in residence and to improve the public facilities so visitors can better enjoy their time here.

If you’re planning to visit Costa Rica or if you actually live here, consider donating time and skills. These dogs always enjoy a good walk, and there are miles of gravel road on this mountain that are very safe and very scenic for a quiet hike. Are you a contractor? Builder? Electrician? Since it will hopefully generate a little funding for the sanctuary, our campground needs structures like a public kitchen, bathrooms, and showers for guests. We always need help with fences and barns and play areas for the dogs. The ways to help are endless, and the rewards are great. Please contact us if you would like to contribute.
